A simulation of life, it's inevitable we will die, but think of the length of time it takes to age, and what you can achieve in that time.

If we assume dying at 70 (which I think is around average?) that is 1000 days to play, or nearly 3 years. It is quite a long long time really.

The idea is actually to have around 4 years of playing before you die ... and there is, I think, a good reason: to give new people a chance and get the old powerful people out at some point ;) ... Plus that in our lego game, we sometimes had the effect of extremely weird careers, simply due to long lifetimes. E.g. one guy was - if I don't forget anything - first owner of a construction company, they hired by a railroad company, then became politician and even president, then moved abroad and became owner of a garbage company, then came back and became president again, then retired and set up a trade union ..... it's a bit too much :) ...

Aw....my chars tend to make friends with chars who're older than them. That's a lots of funerals if they die naturally.

If there's perhaps a way to extend or shorten the natural lifespan...

Yes, in real life the average life expectancy for a man is 72 and for a woman is 76 or 78? I understand now why there is a age limit but seem as you start life at 20 wouldn't it be fair to add 20 (cantr) years to your life in cantr?

No baths in Cantr. After a certain amount of time there is no longer oxygen surrounding you character.

Life expectancy is nowhere near that, Gary. Perhaps for whatever country you live in. But on average, it is probably much lower, maybe even around 40-50. Keep in mind a lot of people dont live in countries like the States, Britain, or Canada. And there isnt much health care in the game, so reasonably they should die about the same age as people did when we were at their technology level, around 40. But I see people in their fifties, so that shouldnt be the case. And Jos, can I ask you one question about this... is the age that you die from age slightly random, or will there be a wave of players dying right at pretty much the same time, as soon as the first generation of chars turns whatever set age.

Does that mean though that everyone will die at the same age, or will some people live longer and die naturally or younger and die naturally. So it would actually be a true interpretation of life and not just say everyone dieing once they reach 70.

Does that answer your question?
