Well I have a somewhat.... different approach that I wouldn't mind seeing implimented to the game to deteer people from doing this. Said small ships are the ones docking, and they dock to larger ships, right?
Why not make all vehicles register a size, say a rowboat being small, galeon being big. The same system works with bikes and cars. Anywho, give the vehicles a damage bar, or what have you. Make it so each can ram each other. It only make sence, that a larger ship with no cannons or anything of the sort would rather ram and try to blow up or sink the smaller one, then just sit there like a bump on a log.
Plus, who wouldn't like to drive a ranger off the road while hes on his bike :p
Docking boats by passing lock of other ship.

Here's another question. Does a boat docked on another boat reduce the amount of weight the big boat can carry (it's storage capacity) by the wieght of the small boat or does it add the storage capacity of the small boat, i.e. the small boat is like an extra room?
In other words, if you put a bunch of small boats on a large boat would you eventually run out of space (weight/storage capacity, whatever) on the big boat or would you be adding lots and lots of additional storage space (at the cost of speed, of course)?

Fair or unfair bug or not...
Regardless of what you all think and that goes triple for you Sho...
The fact being the situation is being exploited by a player... The game mech allows for it to happen but there is no defence against such abuse. IT IS STILL ABUSE. A large crew of charactors should be able to defend in some way against a single one charactor attack and theft... as it is we can do nothing but watch as charactors slowly die and get robbed...
Sho stuff your responce up your brown eye...
The Staff needs to interven and really review the situation and the Game Mechs that apply...

No-one has yet said whether it was a planned change or an accident. If it was planned, not announcing it has screwed some characters, and that is not right. If it was an accident, then people who lost out over it should get some recompense.

Sorry, Surly, but I disagree. My characters have been screwed over by plenty of changes, but proposing that staff go into the game and meddle with things like property ownership or government is ludicrous. Unfair things happen all the time in real life; get used to it. The best we can do is make changes so they don't happen again.
Oh, and I'm crossposting my latest from the "boat movement" post because I think it's the best thing ever.

west wrote:I agree with the first one--you shouldn't be able to dock to a boat that's docked to land or to a harbour.
But I totally disagree with the second one. Pirates SHOULD be able to dock to a moving vessel.
HOWEVER
1) Boats docking to a larger boat should have to go through the lock of that larger boat before being able to enter it; either by breaking the lock or having the key,
and
2) Larger boats should be able to have some sort of project (similar to dragging a body) to undock a smaller ship from them.
These two changes should equalize things a bit, making sure the advantage isn't 100% on the side of the docker, and also giving an incentive for larger boats to carry larger crews (so they can repel boarders).
If there's a more sensible suggestion than this, I'd love to hear it.
