I was thinking, after one of my characters was put in jail, about how to Rp it, and I decided that it is -really- hard to Rp in jails when the jailer will probably only go in for a few minutes, and then leave again, before you can wake up. You cannot give him anything to go on about you, other than perhaps in notes.

That was what made this pop into my head, and I thought it would be great for all sorts of things, purely as an RP tool.

In your character page, where you can see the stats and bars of your character, there should be a bar where you can input the -position- of your character. Say if you were farming cotton you could type in "He is standing in the middle of a cotton field". Or if they were in jail it could be "She is huddling in the corner of the jail, silently crying". This would allow people who were not there for possible Rp, because they are in a different location, to see what that character is currently doing/feeling. For example you could put in that your character is "Standing in the middle of the town and smiling". This would of course appear to other people looking at your char description page, after the project that they are doing.

What do you think? I think it would be a good RP tool.

Aww...and which character would that be? Doesn't really seem like you were much into RPing them in the first place...

But anyway, I think descriptions of characters/descriptions of rooms has been suggested a few times before.

 Actually Marian, being in jail doesn't mean that you don't like to RP them. He happens to be a -very- important person, and is nearing thirty years old now

Well maybe you've had two locked up recently, but I was referring to the inconsistent and IMHO kind of lazy RP of this guy:

Actually come to think of it, I'm not sure if anyone could call that one 'important' so you must mean a different one.

Nope, different guy, although I'm not saying that that one doesn't have his reasons, he isn't the run of the mill psycho, he's doing it out of..... I'll say frustration.

Anyway no, the one I was thinking about it for is far, far, infinitely far more important than him

EDIT: Don't think that his RP is lazy either though :P. I RP him quite alot, he's a little.... odd.... but RP'ed quite well in my opinion

Well, it seemed lazy to me in the sense of, "Gee, I'm bored, think I'll see what kind of crazy stuff this char can get away with even if they have nothing to gain and it seems completely against their personality, and if they die oh well, I'm sick of playing them anyway."

Or at least that's the way it came across to me...there didn't seem to be any logical reasons for what he did as far as I could tell.

But I guess this probably isn't the right thread to talk about this in anyway.

I suggested this earlier but people didn't quite like it - since someone might write into their personalized description something like "is having sex with Mary" and the poor Mary had no way to change that.

It would be somewhat abusable. E.g. "goitre is patting his pet dragon," etc. But, on the other hand, it may be a handy feature if used properly. E.g. "goitre is busily flicking through a large pile of notes."

The ability to speak, and use *emotes*, exists without (immediate) controls, and it's equally possible to write *he pats his pet dragon*, and so is equally abusable.

I have a feeling that many would forget to change their status, leaving "goitre is cooking a hearty stew," while the character has begun crushing hematite, for example.

Your last point is very true, Goitre, people would likely forget to change it, and it would ruin the desired effect.

Other than that, I really would like to see this feature. I was thinking it could be a drop down menu, to avoid inappropriate things being written in. At least to let people know if a person is standing, sitting, or lying on the floor. I find it very difficult to rp when I walk into a room, not knowing that.

Its pretty difficult to woo a beautiful woman in cantr...

You say: "*runs his hnads through her long blond hair*"

I think this is a very good idea. And, just how many Cantr-players would be stupid enough to abuse this function? I mean, call me "too trusting of people", but, honestly, who would have the kind of mentality to write something like "having sex with Mary"?

Good suggestion, DeadBoy. I hope this gets itself implemented soon.

I can't give a number, and I doubt a poll will be of any use, but I expect that enough players would abuse it for the abuse to become an issue.

Solfius, this would be just the same as an abuse of RPing through emotes. If a player says *He begins having sex with Mary* Then either the characters could treat it as rape, and include their own laws to stop it, or if it is something absurb like "He is petting his pet dragon" Then the players would just ignore it. It wouldn't give any poor Rpers more chance to abuse the RP than they have now with emotes

But messages like this would only be messages to the player who bothers to check descriptions, they wouldn't even show up in the events... Someone would write something offensive to their description, someone else would notice and get pissed...

999-1: You see Mary (a woman in her twenties) point at Jacko Wacko.

999-1: Mary (a woman in her twenties) says: "Eww! That man is trying to hump my leg!"

999-1: Jacko Wacko says: "What? I didn't do anything, I swear! *innocent look*"

999-2: Mary (a woman in her twenties) says: "See, see? There he goes again!!"

999-2: A man in his fourties says: "OOC: Just stop reading the bloody descriptions... >.<"

People should be told not to enter actions. Or to hell with it, have an idle project for huddling in the corner, lying down, sitting down etc. At least you could make a show of your character being idle rather than the player.

This is going a bit off topic but why not make it possible to rest on the ground as suggested earlier, make it heal some damage if you are fully rested. Lying in a hunched position would lower the rate but might give you a bit of extra shielding in case of being hit. Outsiders could drag a person up if they want a higher chance of hitting.

I like the idea of an idle project
