Ship Masts
Would it be possible to be able to manufacture a mast on top of boats?
Anyway here are my ideas on a mast:
-Only one person can fit in it.
-That person can see furthur then the others on the ship (in the visual map)
-He/she can still talk with the people in the ship
-You can raise flags on the mast. (like landmarks)
-You can see other flags on other ships from your mast.
Now my ideas on being able to see another flag go something along the lines of:
-You see a ship on the visual map
-You go into your people options
-in the people options you can see Mast with a person in it (a man in his twenties) --> this would be done just like when a person is in a vehicle.
-You can inspect the mast and it would tell you what flag is on the other ship. eg, A Flag of The Pirates (A Flag of <insert value>)
I really do hope that all made sense.

i like the idea of flags but it would only be good if when you made a flag you named it so when somebody inspected your flag they would read the name you had given to it
an idea simpler to the acttuley mast has been suggested before but on land

Rooms cannot have an increase view function as has been stated in some other topic(s). It would require programming. Since it has been stated several times that programming has limited resources, I'd rather see them concentrate on building destruction and canceling/time out of projects where resources have been added rather than something that can already be achieved through several portable items in the game. Although it would be nice to have an option of increasing range of view that doesn't require hi-tech lens-crafting, and it would also encourage cooperation (since if you were sailing alone, you would have to climb down each hour to stop the ship from stopping due to 0 people on the deck).

Nooo, that would ruin everything. Why would anyone make binoculars if you could do the same thing with an addition that's most likely made out of wood and ropes? It would be far easier to build and the only thing that makes it in a way expensive is the prerequisite of a mast. It needs to be limited to one user who cannot steer the ship when they are in the basket and also the crow's nest should not be lockable and if someone dies there then they should automatically fall down.

I have to agree with Seko.
You would have to climb to see further so only one person, the one in the crows nest, can see further.
I however, like the overall idea.
