Cashmere Shawls!
I couldn't decide whether to put this in the Animals or the Clothes sticky, so I'm starting a new topic about it...
For those who don't, Cashmere shawls are made from a the fur of the Himalayan goat, "Chyangra", which lives on very high altitudes, where temperature is harly ever below -30 degrees Centigrade. The fur is called "Pashmina", and is 6 times finer than the human hair.. and has incredible insulating ability.. Because of being incredibly thin, it can't be spun by machines, and has to be done by hand, which takes a long time.
Many articles of clothing can be made out of it, and shawls and scarves are very popular among women as a luxury...
So applying it to Cantr, I was suggesting that in very high mountainious areas, (which would take very long to reach, and roads won't be able to be improved), there should be "Chyangras" which would give "Pashmina" instead of fur, when killed, and then the Pashmina could be hand spun, extremely slowly, and then finally converted into Shawls and scarves... a good luxury item to have, which would really be of high value... unlike gold and diamonds.
I don't like these, coz I've had to spent most of what I earn buying these as gifts for loved ones.. :/ It's cheap here in Pakistan..
There are also Shahtoosh shawls, made from the fur of the endangered "Chiru"... they're much much more rare and obviously more expensive..
Hope you didn't fall asleep reading this...

Cashmere would be fine, but I think some truly rare luxury item should be introduced. As it is hematite, limestone, and coal are the most valuable items in the game. This suggestion is a good start, but I predict these animals would be killed off very quickly, so something else should be implemented as well. I'll start a new topic for my suggestion, with this little spiel thrown in.

But, Racetyme, wouldn't it automatically become rare? If the place where the animals live is extremely far and foodless, and the animals are a hard target. Further, the manufacture of the shawls would be in many stages, and would only be able to be done by hand, which would be very slow, and a large amount of fur would be required to make one shawl. These are all the situations that exist in the real world, and that is why the shawls are rare. How else could you make something rare?
And now, that the skills are implemented, we'd also have "master craftsmen" at this.. just like in the real world. I think it'll be pretty cool..
And of course.. this is only one suggestion.. there can be countless others like this..
and thanks for replying Dee
