I have several characters, and each one has had problems with important messages being lost in the noise, simply because when people talk to "you," the little white fonted "you" actually stands out less than the general babble, which is people's names in orange. This is even more of a problem for those players who play mute characters and need to pass notes to communicate. I can't tell you how many times I've found notes in my inventory days after they were passed to me.
So my suggestion is this: Please change the font of "you" to bold and a color, preferably NOT orange. Green or light blue would be good. Then when "Bob Bumblestump says to you" or "Bob Bumblestump gives you a note," we'll actually be able to see it immediately. While it is natural for things to be lost in the babble, it shouldn't get lost when someone is standing in your face talking, or puts a note in your hand.[/b]
The "you" problem - new font request.

Well, then at least can our character's name replace the "you"? This is a common problem. In my experience, in noisy towns, nearly half of all notes passes are missed by the recipients. There is absolutely nothing in the current text that would catch a note recipient's eye when reading, especially such a short line hidden among tons of much longer lines.

What we need is cutomiseable colour schemes, so that everyone can have something that they find best suits them. I think I heard some talk a while ago about this being a possible thing for some time in the future.
As a short-term fix, try using your browser's "find" function and searching for "you". It'll pop up lots of false-positives, like characters saying "how are you?" to each other, but it works. Firefox has a very good "find" function bar that sits at the bottom of the screen and you can just click on the arrows to find the next, or the previous entry - useful when reading bottom to top!
