Key Ring

Postby TheTheorist » Mon May 09, 2005 3:17 pm

Can be made with 20g Iron / File / Hammer or something??

Works the same way as an envelope, keys can be put on / taken off the keyring.

It would just make some of my chars inventories much easier to navigate!

how about an object container, to hold various objects. small object containers could hold keys and coins, and small things like that, then you caould have a few other sizes for larger things.

Maybe a hide purse, and man purses for... well the men.

Or maybe a small sack. I'd love to just bunch some items together, just to make sure I don't missuse them.

It wouldn't do anything but hold a certain amount. Cost... say 200 grams of hide. Maybe more. I'm not too good at visualising numbers.

Hemp Sack:

200g Hemp Cloth
Needle

===

Leather Wallet:

100g Leather
Needle / Knife

===

Cotton Purse:

100g Cotton Cloth
Needle / Scissors

I think that covers all options for a purse/wallet for all walks of life. But I'd still just like a Key Ring! This is a different tangent all together... Could one of the mods seperate the 2? :D

Also opens the window of having baggage to allow people to carry more stuff... :D Needs to be discussed seperately methinks!

what would a key ring do, that any other kind of storage for objects couldn't?

I had the idea of a gift bag earlier and was told that right now any type of a storage cannot hold anything but resources - so no finished projects like keys, etc.

I'm already thankful for the programmers putting the keys in numerical order.

Be more realistic? How many people do you know that carry keys round in a little bag? :D

Plus I thought it would be an easy addition with envelopes already programmed in.

KeyRing

Postby Hagan » Fri Jul 22, 2005 5:20 am

I dont know this may of been kicked around lots of times already and discussed but I have not read all of the suggestions.. this is just one that I would love to see... a KeyRing or some way to seperate keys from inventory where they dont take up as much space.... I agree with the coins being stackable and making a pouch this would me along the same idea...
I have a character that has a way to many keys... he is a town leader so he has keys to the town.... which could be a keyring he has his own keys.. which could be a keyring... I have to suffer through dial up away out in the country and it is SSSLLOOOWWWW did I say it was S L O W W W W W W W W W W ... I try to keep notes in envelopes so I dont have to wait for them to open to scroll past... but its terrible when I go into storage to get a tool for some one then come out and in order to hand it to them I have to wait forever for all the keys to scroll so I can get down to the tool...

ANYWAY enough is enough you get the idea.. a Key Ring

It has been discussed a few times, along with being able to change the names of keys. However it is a good idea, and has support from many players, at least in that it would be useful. Now we just get to wait and see if the staff think the idea is worthwhile, and if is even possible to implement any time soon. If I have time, I will try to dig up some of the old threads and post the links.

You could have digged up the old topic without starting a new one...

Felt like bumping this one. I've got a char with some 50 keys right now, and it is tiresome to overview the inventory. I would definitely like a keyring. :)

I was thinking about this same thread the other day too

There really should be some way of organising a character's inventory...

From a programming perspective, how difficult would it be to make keys renamable? I know its been suggested but I feel it is semi relevant. Or maybe a one-time engraving:

Project: Engraving key
object Key (1) of (1) used
tools engraver
time .25

Key goes in, key comes out with description. It could appear like so in inventory:
Key no. Jenny's House (8675309)

Please?
