Natural Disasters

Postby Yo_Yo » Sun May 08, 2005 5:03 am

I dunno... I think it would be plenty interesting... and the'd always happen around the same year. Say... every five years. Tornados would pick up people/ vehicles/ anything on the ground and throw em somewhere close. Maybe a town away, or something of the sort. Hurricanes would hurt people, blow away things on the ground, and take ships out to sea.

I just think we need something to spice this game up. I remember bakc in the 300s, when I had my first account. It was non-stop action. Now everyones all nice and hunky dory. It's like i'm playing Diet Cantr. Same great taste, but it makes me sleepy instead of keeping me up.

I really despise anything motivated by a need to 'spice cantr up'.

Cantr should be character-driven, not event-driven...even if the events are incorporated into the game fabric.

That's how I see it, anyway.

Well I could see the point to do this all in game... to spice the game up that is. But then again... when I look at all the time and sheer numbers I would need to spice things up, I realise that my character may be very well into his 30's before he may be even close to ready.

I was hoping for something more... I dunno... sooner. Not to mention that the use to be most volitile place (I love you old Krif ;.;) is no longer active in a militaristic way. And the entire region is now populated by Drojfians! Or so it feels! The bunch of hippes took over the last good place in Cantr!

Of course... I could go join the MacGregors... but then I'd have to hate myself...

Anywho, enough of the ranting. Some places have a huge wealth that never decreased because nothing disastrous has happened. Look at Seatown. That place is rich. And I haven't had anyone over there since my first account, but i'm sure the Red Knights and Stone cutters are still rich too. We need something detrimental to happen to shake and loosen things up!

I have to agree with the industrialist, I'm afraid.

It's as I've always said though. If you really want something to happen, try and overthrow the goverment. Even if you don't succeed, you'll get attention.

Not that I've tried, but I suspect as much.

Well, this is the effect of the tiredness and skills system. What more can one say? We can only presume it's what Jos wanted, even though it's true that Cantr is now played rather more by people who keep dolls in their closets.

Obviously that also means that Cantr won't receive the same level of reviews and votes it used to, or generate the same level of excitement. In any case, a great majority of the people who made it exciting have left.

Natural disasters won't make the situation any better. Worse, actually.

Yeah, what he said. I don't think its a secret how I feel about the skills system. Or the item rot system.

This is just another variant on many other posts/rants I've posted.

Quite simply... no.

Yo-yo, if you're that concerned, plot evil doing. but good evil doing. Patience is the key. if it takes you 10 years to build up an small band of loyal troops and some mid-level weapons to try and take a town. it will be worth it.
