Bikes versus Tandem Bikes in Effectiveness

Postby nitefyre » Wed Dec 29, 2004 4:35 am

Alright, I've noticed for a long while, as I have two characters with tandem bikes and another with a bike. The bike does not A) carry more than 15kg, the weight you normally carry whilst walking, B) does not go noticably faster than walking normally on a path and C) this is a total waste of building a bike: which includes half a kg of steel and iron, and rubber. Now why make such a useless vehicle? I suggest making it faster, or have more weight capacity. At least tandems have the availability of going faster/carrying more weight/ more people.

So Anthony, what about bumping the weight capacity up to something like 30kg OR giving the bike some more speed (the latter being a better compromise, in my opinion), huh, just because we all love you? ;)

Every thing I've seen suggests bikes travel twice the walking speed. I might be wrong, I do have a character on a bike, but he's not getting off of it to test any theories. He has more important things to steal.

Do, I mean more important things to do. :D
Reality was never my strong point.

I'd like to bring your attention to the materials required for a Bike and Tandembike:

Bike:
- 500 Iron
- 500 Steel
- 100 Rubber

Tandembike:
- 1100 Iron
- 1100 Steel
- 150 Rubber

Now, that means that the Tandembike needs practically double that of a Bike. Why's that? Oh, duh, cause it's twice as better! *Smacks Jon upside the head*

There's nothing wrong with the Bike or Tandembike. You get what you paid for. Geez, stop your whining, whiner. :P

Perhaps you are just on a path. Note that roads have a lot to do with how fast vechicles move on them. (I hope I am not breaking th eCR. Thjis really is common sense) I think the vechicles are fairly well balanced.
