That would be nice, but I'd definitely say Atlatl should wait for some form of munitions implemented. The atlatl itself is no larger than the javalin/dart projectile it was used to throw, I think.
Not used with any sort of spear you would want to use in a melee.

If you actually read that, it's obvious how utterly BS the page is...atlatl is an upgrade for the thrown spear...maybe a big upgrade, but in essence it's an arm-extender.
Fact: bows discharge energy quickly, but store it much more slowly (drawing is slower than release). Atlatl power is determined by how fast you swing the bloody stick.
Fact: to make an atlatl, you have to know how to make a spear. A spear is a very serious weapon. Atlatl is not even close to the first weapon, or the first important weapon.
And then he gets into garbage about harmony with nature and how the world would be a better place if bows hadn't been invented...terrible reference, really.
I would also point out: the sling, a deadly but simple projectile weapon. (not the *#@% slingshot, mind)

Yes, I would like a sling too, not that silly slingshot.
But, more stuff to back up the atlatal/atlatl.

What about a bola? I haven't seen one of those mentioned yet. It'd be a decent, fairly simple hunting weapon. All you should need is leather or some sort of cord and a little stone or iron for weights. (Maybe even two versions; one for people in more primitive societies, and a better one for people with access to iron)

I think a bolas works to tie up the front legs of animals up to a wolf in size, but nonetheless that doesn't fit Cantr very well.
An Atlatal would be reasonable if munitions were introduced, certainly. Right now, though, it'd just be a perversion of a javelin, which would just be a perversion of a spear.
Fighting with trick boomerangs, now that's a novel concept.
What do you think of the idea of a military pick? Similar in concept to the battle axe, as a cross between a pick and a weapon.
Other proposal: Very large weapons. The baddest weapon (I think) is still the crossbow, which is not that big. A pike with a weight of 2000g+ would be an intersting step up.

It was incorporated anyway. Mrf...

Theres nothing that I've yet seen that stops boomerangs from being the war/hunting variety rather than the toys normally referred to as boomerangs. The ones meant to be used as weapons are carved wooden throwing clubs, and apparently they're pretty effective, at least if you're trained (from an early age) in their use. They don't return.

Nasty...
Most very large weapons would just be heroically sized versions of smaller weapons, which wouldn't be so appropriate in cantr where there are no heroically sized people to wield them. But a pike would fit. Though the logic's a little thin. Pikes are long so that a formation can keep enemies outside arms reach...they're much worse than a short spear if you don't have a formation to help you.NetherSpawn wrote:Other proposal: Very large weapons. Well, there are all these new swords no one has tested yet...
But what would you suggest? Weapons only have one statistic, I think, and that's their damage. Weight also, I suppose, but that's not so much of an impact. They might also have a variable accuracy rate...I don't know enough to say.

Atlatls were implemented! Oh, and boomerangs, the real hunting ones, can kill a kangaroo. (I've talked with aborigionies)
