Macuahuitl. It's an obsidian serrated sword/club. Capable of decapitating horses and men.

EDIT: image seize (alf)

Edit:

"...According to one source, the macuahuitl was 3 to 4 feet (0.91 to 1.2 m) long, and three inches (80 mm) broad, with a groove along either edge, into which sharp-edged pieces of flint or obsidian were inserted, and firmly fixed with some adhesive compound. The rows of obsidian blades were sometimes discontinuous, leaving gaps along the side, while at other times the rows were set close together and formed a single edge.
The macuahuitl was made with either one-handed or two-handed grips, as well as in rectangular, ovoid, or pointed forms. The two-handed macuahuitl has been described “as tall as a man”..."

And another one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tepoztopilli

Image

"...The tepoztopilli was a common front-line weapon of the Aztec military. The tepoztopilli was a pole-arm, and to judge from depictions in various Aztec codices it was roughly the height of a man, with a broad wooden head about twice the length of the users' palm or shorter, edged with razor-sharp obsidian blades which were deeply set in grooves carved into the head, and cemented in place with bitumen or plant resin as an adhesive..."

That's actually been one of the first projects I worked on after joining RD, but apparently we got stuck for some reason. Can't quite remember why.

The problem you run into with obsidian is that against any metal object (including shields) it'd shatter or chip.

"Pedro de Moron was a very good horseman, and as he charged with three other horsemen into the ranks of the enemy the Indians seized hold of his lance and he was not able to drag it away, and others gave him cuts with their broadswords, and wounded him badly, and then they slashed at the mare, and cut her head off at the neck so that it hung by the skin, and she fell dead."

"Halfway between a halberd and a spear, the tepoztopilli was equally useful for slashing and thrusting. Conquistador Bernal Díaz del Castillo mentions that on one occasion his armour was pierced by an Aztec lance and that only his thick cotton underpadding saved his life."

For me, it looks quite efective against spanish armors...

Cantr features people punching metal shields on a daily basis without damage or broken bones, so I don't think that this is a necessary concern.

Then implement a fast rot rate when used.

You're awesome Snickie. I thought about that two or three times but never remembered to post it here! Very low rot rate when not used, because it's a stone, and a big rot rate when used, because it's a stone.

Because it would be unrealistic if a gun couldn't one-hit-kill someone, and they don't want one-hit-kills in the game.

Guns are not in cantr for the same samurai eschewed them -- no honor.

If that were true, we also wouldn't have crossbows.

Surely we could at least get a Flintlock or something? They wouldn't one-hit-kill. And besides, I wouldnt have thought that level of realism was cared about - a sufficiently trained swordsman in the right situation could easily one-hit-kill with a sword :P
