Don't show eating in Events

Postby Sho » Wed Jun 23, 2004 7:56 pm

I propose that the Events page not show eating as an action for the same reason that animal movement was hidden: it's something that most players don't care about. Finishing a supply of food, running out of food and starving would not be hidden. This change might be a small problem for players who want to find out how much of a certain food is eaten in a day, but they can still find that by keeping track of food stocks. All in all, this is a painless and helpful change, as all cosmetic changes should be.

Well, I kinda like it as an indication that time is moving and all's well, also seeing your characters eat can remind you to check your food levels before they run out.

I'd keep the food notification. I mean, do you eat with out noticing that you have eaten? I know I don't

I agree eating should be kept for the reason's Solfius expressed. Its a reassurance for myself and a motive to check each char when it lights up to make sure they're sailing the right way n all. Otherwise some of my char's I'd be sure to forget to check. I kinda wish eating did occur the turn before (turn 8) the turn when the minutes reset (turn 1). SO you can waste your leftover minutes then or be prepared to check all your characters after the minutes reset.

I disagree with Sho and agree with the others. Keep the eating obvious!

I'm sitting on the fence here. I agree, it should be kept, a reassurance thing.

On the other hand, I wish it to be gone. It lights up your character, and that's wasted minutes checking each and every one to find out no one actually did anything and all that it was, was "Yummy! I ate some food! *Burp*"

Anthony brings up a good idea - it'd be great if there were "light up" events and just FYI events.

So things like:

Eating
Someone talking directly to someone else (where you can;t see the convo)
Animals moving
etc.

wouldn't light up your player screen.

But everything else would...

Well actually it is good to see people whispering to someone else. It brings you to alot of conclusions. Someone could be plotting, flirting, or anything. So it's good to see whispering in my opinion.

Well, it would still show on the events screen - it just wouldn't make your char name light up on the player screen...

no, keep all events causing lighting, in the long run it saves minutes when you "just one more check" as you don't go in and out of all your chars. Not that I'm that compulsive....honest *looks uncomfortable*

Perhaps different lighting effects, then?

Someone talking to you, an attack, someone talking aloud, etc - White like it is

Eating something, someone talking to someone else, the arrival or departure of a person or vehicle - Gray

Nothing happened - Dark Gray, like it is now.

Then those that wish to check their characters whenever anything happens can do so, and those that only want important events can do so. Comprimise.

Keep it the way it is. Why?

You'll have to check your character. In doing so, you might as well comment on something said earlier. Or decide to do something, planning things. So will every player in that location do. I think that if the eating highlighting was removed, already quiet locations will become ghost towns.
