Also, this would in practice mean a movable city, which I am against.

A transport that can carry X kilograms of vehicles between 2 vehicle ramps (building) would be more to my liking. But no extra über stuff on the transport, just 10 people and quite high weight limit and quite slow.

I think he means having it have at least a max capacity of 40. Not you have to have 40 to set sail. :)

Would have been more realistic with 40 minimum to operate a moving city :)

Total weight of 5 tons from 124 kilograms of material used?

The galleon currently holds 1.8 tons for 26.4kg of material used, so how is that different? The galleon actually has a better cost to weight ratio than this would have.

My suggestion is to allow ships to be picked up. Of course they would have to weigh less then the maximum load of a character. Ships like the kayak, canoe and reed boats.

Doesn't that make the whole docking heirarchy pointless?

I think this is about characters carrying boats.

The problem is though that even if this was technically possible, boat weights are pretty much out of proportion. Even a sloop could be carried by a single character, for example.

Ah I see that the weight for bigger boats does not scale realistically. Guess we will have to wait for transporting vehicles.

Let me make my own suggestion:

Make boat objects that are actually... objects that are listed in the location. It would simply be super heavy. You can "shore" a boat (turn it into an object), and it has a pre-set weight. You can only shore it if it is empty (the locks and machines don't count. stuff like sails doesn't count either. Big boats, that you can build cabins on, should not be allowed to be shored).

Anyways, as an object, you could now drag the small boat around... or if it is light enough (a small canoe or something) you could even fit it in your inventory.

I think that he's saying that you could still leave the boat docked and locked up if you wish. Being able to put away smaller, lighter boats, or transporting them across an island would give it another sense of realism.

Being able to carry a boat across an island would be quite useful.

I like this idea....
...as long as it's kept to the smallest of boats, like a canoe, or a kayak, or raft. MAYBE a dingy if the travel rate is as slow as a cart on a path. (ie, almost slower than walking)
Useful, but not efficient... Better to carry the 5k of wood for a longboat and build it there?

Probably all already suggested:

Airship/Hot air balloon

Rollerblades

Motor power skateboard

Land-sail

Speedboat

Dual hull ship thingy (The fast sail ones)

Solar-electric powered car.

Trains would be very cool, with rails that could roam the country (not just following roads).
