Rename Potato spirit to Vodka

Well, the reason why we didn't call it vodka is, that vodka can also be made from grains. Actually, grain vodkas seem to be more common than potato vodkas.

In game, you can call it as you want of course.

Considering grain spirit and potato spirit have the same properties why not merge them into one resource, Vodka, and just have it so you can produce it with either grain or potatoes. Like how steel can be made with coal or propane.

I'm not really behind the 'roleplay it as what you want idea'. Players rely on the names of things as to how they interpret them. If I was to roleplay it as vodka then everytime I wanted to interact with it I would have to announce that I am treating the potato spirit as vodka. Otherwise people who weren't there for the initial clarification may think I'm talking about alcoholic potato soup. You also couldn't say 'Would you like to buy some vodka' without being met with the question 'What's that?' Would get tedious the point that you wouldn't bother. Like a novel which describes the protagonists apearance at the beginning of every chapter instead of just the first.

The reason I want this is there are a lot of connotations involved with vodka and vodka drinkers which would be fun to play with in game. 'Potato spirit' or 'grain spirit' don't really tap into them or have the same ring.

I agree with madfish. If Vodka is an internationally known term, then I vote to change it to vodka.

I'm against this. The variety is was makes the game more interesting.

For spanish I translated them in: vodka (potato) and aguardiente de malta for grain spirit. (I made some research and this makes the term more user friendly for hispanics).

Aguardiente is a generic term for alcoholic beverages that contain between 29% and 60% alcohol by volume. The terms mean "fiery water."....Grain-based ones may be made from millet, barley, or rice ... All "aguardientes" have to be "obtained by the distillation.

So, I'm in favor of changing potato spirit (which means nothing at least to hispanic players and that's why I translated it to vodka) to vodka if that's going to encourage roleplay for english players.

We can rewrite the poll and in that case I would be in favor. Unify both spirits is a no for me.

@alf - the beauty of being a translator for your group, is that you can translate stuff to whatever you/your language group wants. If the English is changed, it won't actually affect any other language group unless their translators agree and change it accordingly.
