Road Signs

Postby JackCoogan » Thu Feb 24, 2011 7:45 pm

On the Location page one should have the option to made roadside signs that say where the road leads.
There would be a separate sign for each road (since not all roads come directly from a towns middle, like rays from a cartoon sun).
It could be made using wood, iron, stone or steel or a mix of some of these.
The text can be edited like the name of a building.
The use is so that travelers don't have to ask where does what road go to OR for the town to have to make a note on the ground saying directions.
The sign would act as a note however. For example the title, which would be read on the Location page would be "Name of place at end of this road" and an option to read the sign would also be there and this could hold information on the town at the other end like what could be gathered there. All this info would of course have to be added by someone and can be changed.
Another thing is this would eliminate people having to "remember" the name of a road by replacing 'unknown location' with the location name. However if a sign DOES NOT yet exist on a road people would have to remember it the old fashioned way until it is changed to a sign.
It won't clutter the Objects page outside like landmarks and notes.

I really don't think this is needed. Notes and landmarks take care of it already, and I don't see any advantages to justify the effort of implementation.
