I'm surprised you actually posted on Indio's thread. This has gotta be one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard..... can you tell when you are going up and down a hill in Cantr? Can ya? Perhaps you have some better ability than the rest of us. O.o Oh yes you do. i'm not bashing you, just the idea.

-But one idea I wouldn't bash, is if its easier to walk/drive in a grassland/forest [cool/mostly flat] than a mts/desert [rocky and hot or very cold]

Stereotyping of course!

Even though Indio is less than nice which is what prevented my from posting in his ... tread in the first place...

I agree with him.

Somewhere buried in here is an old suggestion I made for skis. I am sure it was not the first time it was suggested.

I would add the follow to his observations.

Hills and Mountains are a seris of hills and mountains not just one.

So going from Hills to flat would give you a boost at several points.

But you could say on average you get a boost to keep things simple.

Hills to Flat = boost
Flat to Hills = negative boost
Mountains to Flat = double boost

The logic implemented would also come in handle for which way water flows and waterways between locations.

So I conceed the point to Indio. Schmuck.

But someone would have to pick the height of all locations especially forests.

We can still have 1D travel with 3D effects like we have 1D travel with a 2D map now.

Wow if you didn't know what word he was talking about that is just sad. I mean really come on do you honestly think he was talking about the word "thick"?

You two, quiet down and take your bantering and arguing elsewhere. This isn't the place.

I like Indio's idea, and especially Meh's added to it with the boosts. Although I need to add something. Going into or out of a forest should be slowed down. Yes, there is a road between all the trees, but trees wern't put on the planet with a straight path that the road could be built on. Plus, there's no bulldozer in Cantr so they didn't rip down all the trees. So the road would be winding and such, no?

Oh but what about the whole people cutting down tons of trees with their bare hands???? Anyways after they cut down the trees they improve the road by making it straight :P.

Sounds like something you can add. Working on highways with just shovels seems sort of odd.
