Rubber mixing machine:Oil to rubber
I just though, why can't we have some process that turns oil into rubber? Some machine of some sort?

Re: Oil to rubber
Okay, here is my suggestion:
Rubber Mixing Machine
Object type: Machinery
Skill used: Manufacturing Machines
Time: 4 day(s)
Materials
400 grams of iron
1000 grams of steel
Tools: stone, bronze or regular hammer
regular or bronze screwdriver
Location: Building, not a vehicle
Project:
Making rubber
Output per day of labour
* 150 grams of rubber
Maximum output
* N/A
Required resources
* 600 grams of oil
* 200 grams of coal
Required tools
* (something to mix the oil with?)
Maximum workers
* N/A

Re: Rubber mixing machine:Oil to rubber
I think this would help places where rubber is scarce or nonexistant, still without it being a too efficent way to produce. Additionally, something more to burn you resouces on.
Also, I'd like someone to reply to my suggestion. *looks at the 180 views of the thread*

Re: Rubber mixing machine:Oil to rubber
Since oil is even more scarce than rubber, is there really a point? Even more lucky ba***rds who happens to live next to oil.
On the other hand, I personally like that there are several different way to create or manufacture resources, so I'm happy with it.

Well, you don't really have to have oil next to you, timber is fine too...
I think the diversity of making things different ways would also help in not making all the towns so alike eachother.
Ps.Haven't still seen those bronze weapons/tools

I see this as a good way of diversity and a way of getting rid of some (hypotetically)piled up resources.
Also,I will bump this thread until accepted/rejected or replys.

Re: Rubber mixing machine:Oil to rubber
The numbers look quite good. With an oil derrick making rubber would be a bit less effective than gathering it with the tapping knife and with timber oil you would be able to make about 15 grams per day, which seems reasonably low.
I'm not too sure about the machine and tools though. We might be able to find a better solution.

Woo, someone responded!
Are you thinking of calling the machine something else or placing the project in a existing one? I just placed a tool that sounded somewhat reasonable there, as it shuld recuire a tool (IMO).

Yes, I'm wondering if we could use an existing machine. The gas purifier could be an option since it can also be used to refine oil into bitumen. Or we could create a lab table which could be used for similar projects in the future (fertilizer, explosives etc.).

I have a character that would kill for this. =D
Would be work also if poisons/acids are implemented.

Perfumes too perhaps. Unfortunately those are all things that are hard to realise at the moment.

Not making them, but applying them. This is getting of topic though.

What, I just looked at the real rates, 50 or 100 grams! I don't think the lab should be able to massproduce it too well, industrialization of Cantr ani't good.
