Tandem Bike less affected by weight

Postby *Wiro » Wed Nov 11, 2009 7:58 pm

Currently two people on a tandem bike means twice the weight and thus much slower travel speed. It'd be more realistic if this'd be changed to have the speed stay the same.

Not a motorized vehicle besides even those are affected by weight...stands to reason more weight is going to slow you down despite two people sitting on the thing. I disagree with this one. I find it realistic enough. It's as it should be.

I don't get what you are saying.

*Wiro, I don't know how mechanics are currently, but yes two people on a tandem should mean double pedal force.

And double the weight, two people on it or not...should slow you down. *shrugs*

I don't think you are calculating it right, Rconley.

It would be a slow down from the two people, and an added pedal force from the extra pair of feet, thus the same speed as one person. But now it adds no pedal force at all, and thus you are just as slow as one walking person and it makes the whole concept of a tandem bike useless.

If this is done then character strength should take effect and only those stronger then average would get "better speed" while those "average" would move at the same movement now and anyone else would be better off walking.

I actually agree with this suggestion, but I see no way to implement this without programming.
Pretty in pink.
