Hunt/Attack times

Postby Doug R. » Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:50 pm

I'd like it if the hunting and attack time checks were more refined. As it is now, if you attack after a certain time, you need to wait until the next hour to attack again. When you do something once a day (like hunt), this leads to forcing the hunts into the next hour, and the next hour, etc, until you miss a day.

Can we make this system smarter? You should be able to attack the same minute the very next day, imo.

Even if the minute was recorded, if you didn't manage to hit exactly on that minute, it would keep pushing your attacking time further and further each day, with the difference that the change would be measured in minutes instead of hours.

I think the easiest way of doing it would be to have a cycle of 7 Cantr hours instead of 8... I doubt it would break the game even if people were allowed to hit 1-3 RL hours earlier than the day before. What do you think?

Even the scenario you cite is better. I can handle incrementing minutes, but hours is extreme. Why can't it let you attack the same minute or hour anyway? Seconds could be dropped from the calculation. I don't understand why that's not possible.

I'm not sure about a change to 7 hours.

I like the 7 hour scenario best.

The database only records the day an hour of violence, not the minute, so that's why it can't make a difference between something that goes on at minute 1 and another one that goes on at minute 35. It's most likely a very old structure.

So if you attack at 5.13 you can attack at 6 again?

Then, a seven hour schedule would actually be an 8 hour schedule...

So Seko's idea would make this whole thing ideal, and actually make it work how we want..

7 hours cycle sounds like a fair idea.

or another idea, how about using 90% force only takes 0.9 times of the time? And so on? This time you could create a schedule more to your personal liking.

another idea to make it easier to hunt efficiently, make all attacks on animals 50% stronger, therefore increase time to 12 (or 11) real life hours. This way you can do a fair hunting with logging in only twice a day instead of not having to sleep more than 8 RL hours in one go.

Well, were talking about Cantr hours. One hunting cycle is already 24 RL hours.

Technically more, as Seko said, because it doesn't log minutes, rather, goes to the next hour.

Why not just let you hunt again on the same hour you hunted before? Then you don't have to change anything.
