Holdable signage.
A simple object, useful for many roleplay sitatuations and more: a hand-held sign. The object can be "renamed" sort of like a note at any time by the character holding it. That is, they can freely write something new in it.
The only other feature of it is a "Use" button, which causes an event (much like the musical instruments):
You see a man in his twenties hold up a sign: "Lost. Hungry. Will work for food."
Suggested Requirements:
80g of wood
300g of hide
Takes 2 hours to make.

I do think you should need something like a paintbrush to put a new text on it..

I think this is better, though.

It is not. They both serve different purposes.

Or neither. Just an object, a sign. And you do *holds up a sign with the words "NO MORE IRON, SAVE THE ENVIROMENT" painted on it in bright red letters* and you're done. Allows for more freedom, too.
edit: I do like the possibility to wear/hold the sign and have it show up at the clothing.

I know that.
I simply meant that holding a sign up would be better than showing a note for the case of someone holding up a sign. Showing a note would seem like some sort of workaround.
Showing notes (or at the least, their titles..) would be useful for characters that refuse to, or are incapable of speech, or a lot of other situations.

The showing titles is not the point either. You could just put those in between asterisks. Showing notes would mean you could do *holds up a note in front of X's face* and then they can just read it without you having to drop it and risk it getting read by others who have just entered the room or area or being stolen.
