Additional 'customisable' indicator icons.

Sorry for the apparent vagueness of the title, but you really need to read the post to 'get' what this is.

My proposal is that there be extra optional icons, like little coloured dots. These would be activated from within the character detail page, and (when activated) would simply display the icon (or dot) next to the character's name. Why?

Well, it would just be a way to easily mark characters without having to change description text, etc.

For example: when my character learned someone's name, I used to change the dynamic field. Obviously. But I'd write the name in all lower case to indicate that that character doesn't know mine's name. Then when they did learn my character's name, I'd change it to have initial capitals, like normal. Nowadays, you could just put something like 'knows my character' or 'doesn't know my character', etc in the description part instead.

But how much easier it would be to see a discreet dot of colour next to the characters' name. And that dot could mean whatever you want it to. With a variety of colours, and the ability to use multiple marks, you could use this to easily recognise certain classes of people, identify people by their ability, or track anonymous people from town to town.

If the same thing is applied to roads, characters can easily 'recognise' roads without having to name them.

Or better yet, this could be incorporated into the character's dynamic name text, similar to <CANTR>. Perhaps something like <CANTR_DOT> -- using this system, there would be no additional work required to enable it for road or building names. The server would simply add appropriate <IMG> tags when parsing the dynamic name.

(I'm not agreeing with the suggestion, just adding what I think would be a good way of implementing it if it was accepted)

You play Oil Empires? It looks awful from the ads I've seen!
