Road range?

Postby Kreed » Mon Apr 02, 2007 11:49 pm

I had a look but couldn't find a suggestion on this,

I'd like to have a little more detail on distance between people on roads.
Currently it just says 'ahead of you' or 'behind you'.

It would be handy if it said 'a long way ahead', 'a little ahead','right in front of you'.
Yuk yuk yuk.

It would be of limited value - Currently if you can see someone on a road you can interact with them (talk, hit, poke, whisper and pass goods if one is on a vehicle) - it's the same for animals you see . There are no plans to change this interaction distance until we have free-roaming - i.e. a long time off.

There are distances involved but other than showing whether you are out running someone or not - it won't add anything - and you can get close to that already by seeing if someone is ahead and whether or not they are travelling faster than you.

I was going to agree but then thought: it also tells you their speed relative to yours. This will show if you're catching them up/getting away from them.
If there ever comes a distinction between range and close combat weapons, then such distance information would be important.

I thought there was a distinction between range and close combat weapons?

I have a charrie that has never missed in town or when next to a character on the road. Yet if the other person is ahead or behind misses every time.

There is currently no distinction between ranged and melee weapons (and infact there is no such classification in Cantr) and your character is just unlucky or just lucky in towns ;)
