I hate to go off-topic here, but I think the "you see" part is an important aspect of the game.
The "you see"s,"you hear"s and "you notice"s help to emphasize the fact that we observe the game from our character's eyes, and not from a god's-eye view. They certainly give the game a certain atmosphere we have gotten used to. If they weren't there, the in-character feel would weaken.
"You see Seko pick up a hammer" tells me that I am someone in the same environment with Seko, and I have just observed an event with my eyes. It puts me close to the event, since I can see it, I probably can also interact with it.
All "Seko picks up a hammer" tells me is there is an environment, in which Seko and a hammer reside, and an event happened there. I don't feel attached to this environment at all.
It's a little awkward to try to tell it like this, but if the "you see" part was removed the whole feel of the game would be changed. For worse in my opinion.
