Colored glass

Postby Sicofonte » Thu Oct 26, 2006 11:52 am

Adding some dye or combination of dyes to the manufacturing glass bars project would produce colored glass bars (also colored window glass, useful for colored lighthouses and stained-glass windows, and still usefull for white-transparent glass purposes as vehicles).

Blue glass:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_glass
Uses cobalt.
I suggest 100 grams per 300 grams of blue glass bars.

Red glass:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranberry_glass
Uses gold and a bit of tin
I suggest 40 grams of gold and 10 grams of tin per 300 grams of red glass bars.

Green glass:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stained_glass#Glass_production
Uses copper oxide (copper and ready to go)
I suggest 100 grams per 300 grams of blue glass bars.

Yellow and orange glass:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stained_glass#Creating_stained_glass_windows
Uses silver stain made with silver nitrate (silver and ready to go)
I suggest 50 grams per 300 grams of yellow glass bars.
I suggest 100 grams per 300 grams of orange glass bars.

Yellow and green-yellow glass:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium_glass
Uses uranium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium.
We don't have uranium... still.

Purple glass:
With cobalt and gold?
I suggest 30 grams of gold and 80 grams of cobalt per 300 grams of purple glass bars.

Same proportion of dye per glass beads in the corresponding projects. Colored glass beads for jewelry, and maybe some optic instruments in the future.

And I want a lighthouse keeper :D

I would love to add it, but it suffers the same issues as with customizable clothing.
