Tools and weapons

Postby Spectrus_Wolfus » Thu Dec 11, 2003 9:07 pm

who else would like to see the possibilty of making metal tools and weapons out of different types of metal instead of Iron being the end all and be all of the game?
possibly make them less effective so that iron and steel are still the ultimate metal to have but put more uses in for other metals such as alumina and copper

I think that's related to tool decay. Once that is in place tool decay for the softer metals could be quicker.

I would most certinaly like to see a more stone age, bronze age, iron age, steel age progression for new societies, and decay would open the door to this greatly.

indeed emerging civilisations used stone axes and hoes and many other impliments but i agree we need some form of tool and weapon degredation for this to really come into effect.but as an interim measure surely reduced production could be a possibilty :?:

When (if?) deterioration is implemented I think sabres and tools that now requires steel shall be able to be constructed by lesser metals, like iron or even bronze.

Getting a cut from an iron or bronze sword would do as much damage, the only real difference is that steel weapons and tools can take a lot more "damage" before they break.

I saw a "bone knife" as a prerequisite in the tool pages. Not among the makable tools yet tho. I have some small bones but can't make anything yet.

Bone knives and bone swords can be made already.
