Oh I was thinking about this one thing, which is adding these floating things to the side of an existing boat. I don't remember what they are called but they effectively make the boat wider, making it harder to turn over.

You could have just a log attached with poles, but if it was something hollow then it would float even better. I assume the physics behind the thing is that if the waves try to tip it over, the floating device will sink under water and since its density is less than that of water, pressure will push it up, at the same time straightening the boat. Another choice would be to attach two canoes together so they would work as buoyous for each other.

I assume we could add something like that to the smaller boats to increase their capacity, just like a sidecar. I'm not sure what to call it either. Only thing is, a fully loaded longboat will really creep along with extra mass, so I am not sure it will end up adding anything to the game other than cosmetics that would be seen from inside the boat.

It is called an outrigger. If we were to just have it on canoes and rowboats, it would help balance them against the dinghy.

People!Animal traction moved charts!!!We need that! It's fun how we have assembly lines but still has crossbows as the most powerful(and sucka, hate them!) weapon.Animal traction is so simply and more cheap than building cars, why not use them?

Has a Land-Yacht been mentioned yet?

Kinda like a canoe with wheels and a sail. Single person and not much carrying capacity other than what the char is holding. Just a way of getting from A to B that's quicker than walking, but not as quick as a motorised vehicle.

It's been suggested, Buddy. Think maybe even accepted, but there are lots of complications I believe. It needs a heck of a lot of iron for a starter, so you're not going to get them anywhere.

I hope the iron needed is IMMENSE.

Think about it- an iron shield costs 300 grams of iron.

I reckon about from one wooden plank to the next, the iron running on either side of the wooden plank (to make the rail) should cost 500 grams of iron each, 1,000 total.. then you'd have about anywhere between 100 to 200 of these per town, that's 100,000 grams of iron.... maybe 500 of these inbetween towns.. maybe double..
Yes.. 1 million grams of iron!! sounds reasonable.
Seriously though.. I wasn't being sarcastic with the 500,000 grams of iron thing... I think the cost should be IMMENSE!! but it should take passengers from one town to the next within hours.

And we would need trains to actually run on the railroad. It'd be silly to go by a bike on the rail. It could work, but it would be a bumpy ride

If there's gonna be railroads then we also need blast furnaces and all sorts of industrial investments. I have one character living in a location that's neighbouring a source of gas, another source of wood and rubber and another source of hematite. The place itself has limestone and a lot of other stuff. Hmm, if there could be a gas line built straight from the neighbouring location then there wouldn't be need to go digging there, you could just turn on a valve...

Railroads are not too ridiculous. I could see it, but I think it would be far more useful and fun once we have free running, or whatever the catch phrase is, I've forgotten it, not having heard it in years.

I expect that roaming will need to be implemented in Cantr III. :)
