Babies and children

No matter which way it is set up, there is a disadvantage.

1) Option:
maybe not too many players wanting to be babies

2) Random
maybe player doesnt want to play a baby and abandons the character

What about the option of
a. not being a baby
or
b. random chance

I think the idea is that new players or newbies as we know it will be allowed so many spawn characters then they would have to have children characters. The experienced players will have to play as children when they want a new character because it is believed they already have had their chance of spawning characters.

I think the way it is going to work is that a male and a female will have to have sexual intercourse and then there will probably be a pregnancy period for the woman if there are players waitng for a new character. Then she will give birth and then there is a baby. If there are a lot of players waiting for a new character then I believe Jos is playing around with the idea of people having twins, or triplets etc... to fill the demand. If there is no demand for children the woman simply doesn't become pregnant.

Does anyone know if babies will be implemented before Cantr 2.0? If the game staff needs any help at all with this particular project, I am more than willing to offer my services (I can't program, but anything else I will do).
I, for one, can't imagine people not wanting to play babies. It will be SO good for the game, and add such depth and intimacy to the Cantr experience.

My concern is that we would preferrably like more experienced, dedicated players to play children, at least at the beginning. Yet I assume most of these players are at their capacity for characters. Such as myself, and a few other players I know. I would love to play a baby, but do I have to pick one of my characters to kill off to do so? I don't go in for that bad rp myself. I just can't do it. I think, at least at the beginning, that players might be given the option to add 2 extra characters to their roster, if they are children. Myself I am going to use the "bad RP" method and kill chracters so that I can run some babies. I plan on contacting the players department to kill off some characters when the time comes.

The idea of adding extra characters at the start for people already running 15 in the beggining sounds like a good idea to me. Then it could go back down to 15 normally. You don't have to pick. Someone like Piers would get you back to 15. Let see what is decided.

I think the idea of having to have sexual intercourse to get pregnate is a not so good idea. I myself dont want to see people playing grab ass in game or hear sexual foreplay comments as I go about my game. Also we have people that are underage playing the game, and even though I know that most are mature enough to handle this type of thing I still think that's not good....No offense to the young players most of you seem more mature than half the people I work with. But I mean would that be breaking the law having underage people Role Playing chars into sex with others who are of age and visa versa?..*Shrugs* Im not sure but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Anyway if one of my chars was having intercourse and I found out the other person in real life was underage, that would weird me out exspecially if they were underage and male. I would problly quit that char and let them die, and it's for just this reason that none, nor do I plan to have any of my chars Role Play this idea.

So.. how bout we just have some storks or something.

From what I understand, it won't actually be "having sex", it'll be a project. Like you both have to push a "reproduce" button. Anyway, if that's not how they're planning on doing it, I think they should. Those that are into RPing the specifics can go do that in private, and those that aren't don't have to.

I think yu all know that I'm dead set against having to play a baby. But nevertheless I have a suggestion her.

There's a lot of marriages. Maybe A sort of button or project to get married and this way the couples would be automatically queued, for having a baby. Baby's only spawning with married couples?

No intercourse necessary.

Oh, and ppl underage playing: This is not a typical kid's game. On most sites Cantr is described as a "society simulator". Oh, and try to eavesdrop on a conversation Btween 10-15 Year olds. You might learn a thing or 2 about sex.

And isn't it funny how dangerous sexuality is considered in the US while showing them violence an murder to the extreme in movies or even the news, while a perfectly normal and nessesary natural thing like sex is considered "bad" for the youth?

I agree with you on that last part Orion, Americans do do that, but what I was getting at is America punishes severely for people haveing sex of any kind with underage people and I agree 100% that they should, and I may be taking this all out of context but I just dont want to see pervs on this site, there is to much of that crap on the internet already. This is one reason why I really like Cantr and this forum you never see any body ask for cyber sex and shit like that.

I don't see how anyone is going to get off on something like this but once again I believe things need to be dealt out by the societies in the game. If people have too much 'sex' and there are too many babies or unwanted babies around then such things will have to be dealt by societies in game. I also think that rape should be possible as well as prostitution. It would add more depth into the game and something for societies to deal with.

I don't think it is such a big deal. I mean most of the 'children' we do have on are at least in their teens and I think, unless they have been hiding under a rock, they know what sex is and I don't think it will be that much of a deal. I mean all you have to do today is turn on the tv and be bombarded by it. Plus, I don't think morality should be programmed into the game. So things like rape or prostitution should be possible and the societies will have to deal with the morality of these things in their own way. And if societies don't want be screwing each other outside they can make laws and enforce them where people have to do it in privacy just like in real life.

And about pervs and child rapists or whatever. I have full confidence that the Player's Department can deal with these things. I'm sure if it looks like someone is trying to do something like that it will be reported and the situation dealt with. Plus, if you feel that someone might use the internent to find out about you and then go and rape you then don't post any personal information and you shouldn't be posting such things in game anyways.

But the think I am looking forward most about babies and reproduction are the genes and such. I think that will be really cool which means our characters will have more distinct physical features depending on the genes of their parents.

I totally agree with rklenseth (wow...never saw that one coming ).

This game isn't made for young children and the massacres where whole villages are killed off should be much more debated than sexuality if some form of censorship is going to be implemented.

As a society simulator there should be few if any restrictions that aren't implemented in-game.

Personally I think the amount of people under 12 playing Cantr is extremely few and if you are older you won't take harm from a sterile "reproduce" project.
