Wow some of us have a lot to learn about warfare and combat strategies. It isn't all about brute strength at all...

But in terms of weaponry it is.

For instance, I can't attack you from farther away on a path with a longbow than I could with a sword. Et cetera, of course.

All weapons basically perform the same function, except they have different accuracy/damage rates.

This comes back to my idea about different types of weapon damage... bludgeoning, slashing and piercing. (Yes, I know its stolen from D&D, but it makes sense).

Currently a stronger person is always better with a rapier... defeating the purpose of implementing it in the first place...

Is there any master list anywhere that has comparisons of all the different weapons, the wiki falls sadly short on this one, with people posting about a weapons real life history and saying nothing about it in-game.

Nothing? No, I think it's mentioned which are the oocly accepted best weapons.

Claymore, crossbow.

But the accuracy trait is still hidden.

That list may be wrong and in anycase doesn't take cost into account. Anyway a suggestion: Hooked pilum, increases the shield penetration for a reducion in damage over the standard pilum.

Maybe but with a well executed plan, A group of people can take out a group of same numer even if the group attacking has spears or knives and the other has swords.

Would it be possible to name weapons? I'd like to have someone pass down a sword to me that is named. People did it a lot in the ol' days, remember the excalibur? Besides it would make people feel honourable if they got given a sword that was once held by the most powerful man in all the lands.

From what I understand, embroidery/engraving is an approved suggestion, pending implementation.

So eventually, yes. :) Just give the programmers time.

Diamond weapons, be very sharp, good at penetration, etc. They should be very hard to make though, tons of diamond involved and a steel handle wrapped in leather, to make it even tougher to make.

That's hardly realistic. Also I'm not sure there's the functionality built into the combat system for creating a weapon that's "good at penetrating shields."
This is just the old "superweapon" idea that gets revived every few weeks (always under a different name, unless it's "gun") and shot down in a few days. Too unbalanced - not in a "too much bang for the buck" sense but "we shouldn't make it possible to kill people that quickly" sense.

I'm not suggesting it be better than any established weapon, as powerful as a crossbow say. It would be a symbol of incredible wealth though, plus it would be kickass. On a different note, glass knives are really cool. They can be sharpened more than a regular knife, making them more effective at gathering tomatoes, etc. They would need to be repaired more often though. This is not unrealistic, you can in fact buy glass knives in rl.

Not only are people not bothering to check if things have been suggested before nowadays...
You don't even bother to check the manufacturing menu?
Diamond encrusted sabres exist.

Do you know what would be a great idea?! Stone hammers!!

I mean a solid diamond sword. For the sharpness and hardness a diamond has. Anyway stone hammers sound great.
