I believe ProgD is discussing this implementation, TSL. :)

What about TOW TRUCKS for when petrol is implemented. When a car runs out of petrol in between towns the tow truck can tow them to the nearest town.

there could be roller blades that boost your speed but don't hold anything (note: I didn't read through all 13 pages to see if this has already been suggested.)
The following statement is not true.

Bikes already do that - a bike cannot hold any more weight than a single person with full inventory.

Yeah but roller blades would probably be easier to make, atleast less resources. What about planes and helicopters? This was probably already mentioned, but are they planning anything on it? Helicopter type stuff is already in there since I remember beginning Cantr.

Wheelbarrows

Postby Kael » Mon May 08, 2006 10:40 pm

Can we make a use of the wheelbarrows? I don't know if ProgD is still planning on using it for road construction so why don't we make it useful now.

What I'm thinking:
Functions as a containment unit, allowing the character to hold more wieght on thier person. No increase in speed or any other abilities, just an increase of say 10kg or less. It would make traveling with huge loads much easier for those characters who are say ... not rich enough to get bikes to go back and forth.

Not a new question. http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8461 should answer you - what I said in that thread is still my opinion.

Yeah I used to think it would help in that way before I found out it doesn't have any use.
I think something to help out road projects should really be brought up, because road production is almost too difficult of a task, and it slows down Cantr's growth a bit.

i was thinking about the sea, and was thinking about a new kind of ship
dunno what u'd call it, carrier would make you think too much like aircraft but name isn't important

basically it would have a base speed of 20(10 if that's too high)
the ship would have no weight/speed effect
unlimited ships can dock to it as though it were a coaster harbour
it would be able to carry vehicles
it would be docable to land via docking ramp which is also how vehicles are loaded and unloaded
resource equirements
100000 grams wood
100000 grams aluminum
50000 grams steel
30000 grams iron
5000 grams rubber
500 grams magnesium
(well i guess i may have included engine in the design instead of making it seperate)
tools needed
hammer
screwdriver
pincer
wrench
time to build
100 days

of course some structire could be built on it on which a radio transmitter and reciever could also be made  as well as most machines that can be built in land buildings.

it would require some refined form of oil to run otherwise it's a dead float in the water, realistically a docked ship could run back for more feul.

capacity? 30,000,000 grams? is that about right? or should it be 50,000,000?

formidable to attempt, yes, as it should be. potential? unlimited
could even allow deep sea fishing if there are any fish out there :P

So basically you want one of the floating fortresses from 1984?

fortress

Postby Kael » Fri May 12, 2006 9:58 pm

And then instead of having a city you can have your own little floating island....

I see a lot of potential use for a giant pirate gang just sailing down with a couple dozen dingys, raiding huge coastal cities

But I can't see it happening.
