Ah, this topic is developping quite nicely. Although I think I would prefer to have a smaller description viewed at first, but if you examine the person, you get a better description. You dont notice the color of someones eyes unless you take a good look, no?

More freedom sounds good and your right it does seem kinda odd to provide so much freedom for characters and then go and tell them how long a year lasts, so add in a way of recording time or at least some way to know that a day has passed you'd also need clocks but also you don't have to have clocks because it isn't really important as most people use days rather then time.

So a way of showing when a day has passed and then leave it up to the characters to begin recording the days and decide for themselves, with everything accompanying it such as seasons also up to us or them rather.

Have to have a point if not in the creation of Cantr 2.0 when the date at the top of the page is removed, there would need to be a warning I suppose but then again maybe not.

Perhaps every day, you see the sun rise and set? Characters could measure that if they wanted. Or any periodic event, in that case.

This would really disrupt how the game works though. As right now time is in place so that you know when a character did something since some people can't check every hour.

There are some things that differ from RL mostly because of the way Cantr is played I believe--most people aren't always on

*notes that he is not most people*

you see a lean man with red short hair and green eyes wearing leather breeches and a silk shirt arriving in Broom, taking Broom Road from Broom Woods

you see a lean man with red short hair and green eyes wearing leather breeches and a silk shirt take some carrots

That could get old really fast.

Hence the option to look more closely at people. You can't find a certain person without scanning the crowd, at least, so that should be hidden unless you look at them. A much shorter description would be in order for the events page, i would assume.

About people not being on all the time, well that would have to be solved somehow maybe at first characters had to record the passing of time themselves but perhaps there could be some sort of clock invented which when you examine it tells you the date & time, of course it would have to be set by a character but even if it isn't perfect - someone misses an hour or two - it would still be better than nothing. You could have all sorts of clocks, big town hall type ones or little mantle piece clocks maybe even a wristwatch.

Then of course gotta decide what sort of clock it is in the first place, a process of upgrades for a clock like roads, you start out with something simple like a water clock and then progress on from there.

As for making sure it keeps accurate time maybe it would be slightly off and you could if you wanted to put a coin or some other item on it to stabalise it, then again you could just leave it inaccurate or not have inaccuracy at all.

maybe you would only see the detailed description when you went to the character description page.

So what would you see on the events page?

"You see a man older than you take some stone"
or
"You see a man take some stone"

Definatly only see details like hair colour if you choose to examine them closely, like at the set name for character page, it already says if they're healthy so why not have the description there?

If you have not named them..

You see <person 349857> take some stone.

By looking more closely you can see that it is <person 349857-493843>

If they are very far away maybe <person 3>.

By clicking on <person 3> you get everyone who you know who has a 3 in that position.

Male/Female can be indicated in the first postion as 1 and 2. What the rest of the numbers stand for should be left up to the imagination.

The second digit(s) could stand for the region one was born in. etc.

And that is what the forum is for. Evolution of ideas. The weak ones have to be killed or improved so that better ones emerge.
