So... instead of adopting children.....
ADOPT AN EGG!!!
I have to say.. that the babies will probably just crawl around randomly and pick things up randomly if they become A.I.
As for eggs... THAT TAKES PARANTING OUT OF THE PARANTING... So that means that I WON'T HAVE TO MAKE SHURE MY KID WILl JUMP INTO THE RIVER.
That just takes the fun out of paranting.

If there won't be any playing of children before some decent age (10 or more, I'd prefer), than I see no reason not to have eggs. They're portable, they have a good reason for not moving around on their own, they're more compatable with such entertaining possibilities as abandonment, they reduce the chance that people will 'RP' actions into their not-yet-concious young...
Also, with multiple laying (which strikes me as a lot more tolerable than multiple birth...) we could get away from the worry of not having enough children to meet demand.
Basically, they just make the whole thing better, unless we're going to have to play 'characters' from birth at 0 years maturity.

You're right, a kid of yours will do it all on its own.

Why not just adopt a newspawn?

Maybe as kids you could be awkward with all skills until you reach age 20 when you're genetic skills would kick in. As a parent you could have a 'teach cooking' or 'teach digging' etc project where you teach the kid some skills. These learned skills would be what they would be all the skills they'd have as a child and when they reach adulthood it would maybe add to the genetic skill levels. (ie: you go from awkward to novice at pulling carrots as a child and instead of your genetic skill level of efficient as an adult, you'd get skillful instead).

I certainly don't wish to have eggs....although it seems rather popular..I still don't want it...I think if children are implemented..they should also be spawned..then 'adopted' by someone....how can a world full of spawned creatures suddenly start making their own reproductions? It just doesn't fit with the theme of Cantr. I think you should get the choice, when you spawn....Male/female and adult/child and be spawned at say age 5..

Children spawning and being (potentially) adopted is ridiculous. If we have to have children, they'd at least better be someone's fault...
My understanding is that there is no hope of being able to spawn by the old system for more than the first few characters once children come in.

People who want the children ...thats what they are asking for...Personally..I don't want children in canter...if you want to play a child...RP the adult with child mentality....I've seen it done a few times...Edward is very good at it..I see her as a little girl, not an adult.

I think this will take Paranting out of Paranting. I mean... WHATS THE FUN OF NOT HAVING TO WAKE UP EVERY TWO HOURS TO FEED YOUR CHILED???
Ok.. Bad example.. but you get my point.
With this implemented.. i think that Cantarians will be les inclined to make a family when they lay eggs, And insted.. just drop the egg wherever they pleas.
