A little executable jar that lets me see cantr incidents in near realtime? I'd use that even when actively playing cantr, and it would be an immense productivity booster... My life is, all to often: 5 minutes of work, 1-2 minutes of making sure cantr is still not doing anything, repeat.
Feature note: I'd rather not need one window per character to keep an eye on the whole lot of them.

Yes, I like the java client idea too. I would hate it to be like my e-mail alerts from GAIM popping up every 5 seconds.

Interesting point. I was thinking about what the best way would be:
1) a client for each char
2) tabs you can change, like with mIRC, that light up if there is an event
3) somehow mix them
Any inventive ideas?

My idea on what would be nicest is an overview screen that shows all your characters, some of their bars, and their progress percentages, plus a 'new events' indicator. Maybe put the real time event reports in separately openable windows? (click the cantr smilyface for the character to pop it up, or something.)
Not exactly creative...
You could also do it with tabs, if you wanted, but as a play augment I might have several event repeaters visible and be watching the overview for unexpected events...well, if there were two battles involving my characters at the same time as a trade deal, anyway...but most of the time I would just want to know if anything at all had happened, to get rid of the logging in every 5 minutes habit.
