Just make it so it can't be automatically copied. Simple as that. It would be nice for the mapmakers and writers. Then they'd be able to make a fortune if their works were good enough. Or just be nice and give away free copies... Maybe a note that can only be edited by the original writer?
Hrm... In real life, handwriting normally accounts for something when you want something forged...
Ooo. Maybe, with the way you seal envelopes and all, there could be a way to 'seal' the note with your name so that noone other than you can edit it or copy it?

But see, the point to the whore argument is that this wouldn't work. Someone could still copy it by VIEWING it then either copying and pasting in a new note, or taking the HTML source and making a new note, etc etc. That defys game mechanics and shouldn't be done, but its not like the Players Department would be able to watch everyone to make sure they don't illegally copy a note, now is there? =\ No note would be safe. HIDE THEM IN THE BOMB SHELTER!
And I know what you're all trying to say, with the forgery aspect (Ie: Copy and Paste is forging the note). Well in real life its extremely difficult to forge something, but how hard is it to copy and paste? Exactly. A few keystrokes and you're done. Nothing to it!
Unless of course it showed in the note "It looks like 'so and sos' hand writing" - But theres ways to have that abused too >.>

True but is more wrong to simply not allow this. I think if someone is going to cheat they are going to cheat on alot of things and will be caught eventually. I also think we should just add the new option and let people utilize it. Granted it will not be a perfect system but it will be a start.
So why are you so against this? There has to be more to your reason. Just because someone might cheat doesn't seem to me like enough of a reason.

I never said I was against it. I just point out flaws in things, so that they can be adapted to work properly.

That's different. At the time it was unknown that there'd be so many Iron items, and since Iron wasn't rare being a diggable resource, so many items could too easily be created.
If it was known that there would be 100s of Iron items, then I'm sure it would of been harder to get from the beginning
But I'm not going to argue ^.-

I happen to like the Idea of having notes that only the creator can edit, would take very little programming as it would simply add another option to the create note menu. nd unlike the sealing of an envelope where there is a flaw, it would be sealed by something that can not be forged... because it would be hidden and not an option to edit..

What about if a note was created, there would be the name of the author in another field that you can't edit? like this:
-----------------
20 dollars
-----------------
this note looks like the handwriting of Mark thomas.
------------------
if the note is copied by james hugh, it looks like this
-----------------
20 dollars
-----------------
this note looks like the handwriting of James hugh.
------------------
if you dont know the person, it looks like this:
-----------------
20 dollars
-----------------
this note looks like the handwriting of a man in his thirties.
