Players would apply for a slot and then have to meet some basic mechanistic criteria - playing for a certain period of time, no recent PD problems, an available slot, and have reasonably active characters.

Apart from that, there shouldn't be any subjective, "popularity contest" criteria. The PD case requirement would eliminate everyone I wouldn't want to see there. ;)

Now that I think about it, it would have to be isolated, due to people wanting to migrate in, which wouldn't be that hard to accomplish. If people specifically apply for this slot, then it stands to reason they don't want to be migrating out either.

Probably the most difficult part of the whole thing would be turning off spawning for the locations in that region.

It's still fishy and breeds certain behaviors.

How is someone in Cantr supposed to know about a secret land they could never enter without outside knowledge?

Like if that bunch of people would care... I can already imagine the non-RPrs hack'n'slash and onlgy figthing (they call it "conflict") makes the game interesting to bandle together and want to ruin the little for-fun-town the RPers created themselves.

In what way should a closed society be of any concern of the other people on cantr?

Well either way, the veterans would ALSO be in the other domain and downplay it's existance if newer player's want to be like that. Besides it would all be in vain for outsiders as they wouldn't be able to enter anyway, and they would most likely die trying from starvation or other events that might turn up.
I'd probably kill anyone talking crazy bout some secret place anyway. So let them have their fun with that.

And it starts! X|

I don't see why people can't play together, that is the point of Cantr. Segregating a "certain type of player" is not only poor etiquette but just total douche baggery by those included in said area.

You don't have to apply for a slot, Dudel.

It would be the same if there were no maps and someone mentioning a name of another city, no one has heard of... What's the difference? It's still outside knowledge being used.
If that charrie is willing to use that outside knowledge to try and gain an unfair advantage about that, what else will they abuse? In that case, they're better off dead anyway. Just as some people kill others for knowing how to make things they aren't supposed to know about.

Well I wouldn't. I consider the behavior poor... but whatever, have your perfect piece of Cantr that the "n00bs" can't interfere with.

I would undestand the critique, if its really about spllitting the player base, but its not. Its allowing 1 out of 15 character to be in a special place. 14 chars are still in the main area, even for veteran players.

I support this! And it's for fun, like making another server with players you know. It doesn't significantly effect Cantr, so why not?
Yes, an incorrupt selection process would be preferable, but if you don't get in, oh well, life goes back to normal.

Sorry to interfere, but ... is the emergence of Cantr III? What language group?
Cantr II is a social simulator. What is not working is due a problem in the society.
Cantr is like Vegas - what happens in the game should be in the game.

How about and area of interconnected towns... One/two towns for each language group...
Except if you're allowed one character, then those knowing two or more languages would have to choose between them.
Personally, I know there are a lot of English, So I'd prolly have one in a french town... Could be interesting... As long as no one group tries killing off any other one group.
