I searched for "newbie island" didn't get a result, but maybe it are my bad searching skills.

BTW: I like the idea of having one (the first) permanent on this "other lands". maybe with the exception of people who behave badly toward newbies.

Either the player should be strongly advised to create a real character as soon as possibly, or alternative on regestration two characters are created, one for the other lands one in cantr.

You could also have the option to kill your newbie-char at any given moment with a big button.

As long as it is alive you can not have any other characters, unless it is a mentor-char. (But perhaps we could also have a mentor char to be a possible sixteenth char, with slight prerequisites.)

I had some more ideas but I forgot about them. I will update my post when I remember them. (Which I probably never will. :()
- Every person lost in war is two too many.
- Respect comes from two sides and must be earned. Nobody has the right to it because of a title, sex, age, race or birth.
- What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
- I believe in True Love, do you?

To be careful: being admitted ooc, there is the danger of a kind of forum grows up without efficient moderation (without possibility of to edit or to delete 'posts').
Cantr II is a social simulator. What is not working is due a problem in the society.
Cantr is like Vegas - what happens in the game should be in the game.

"the other place", "land of dreams", "the sanctum", "the incubator", "fairy land", I don't know. But it really should IMHO be more original than "newbie island"

How about Sanctuary Island?

Steep learning curve discourages mutants IMO. Newbie island would be boring in all likelyhood. Why not just develop a better guide. The wiki page for new players could do with some more meat....

Its not primary and only about the learning curve. Its about making the very first experiences with the game less random. Currently now the very first character of a player can spawn between a char thats played being a complete a... (and i am aware the player might be a nice guy/girl, but whatsoever), and the very first thing the players hears is in the game is "f... you".. and naturally he will close the game forever and never return. Therefore yes the safe haven should be a friendly place to welcome new players, and yes its likely to be boring, but its only a place to temporarly dwell upon before going into the true cantr (possibly with a new char)
