OH! Dudel has an idea.

When you char create you could pick list of items from a drop down menu like hair and eye color. Or you could click a check box saying you don't wana do that.

This way there is no changing your char desc every twenty seconds or w/e the problem was. It is forever! So you would have a description like.

He/she has short brown hair and green eyes. (End of description)

If you don't want the avatar or don't wan't to put in your info such as eye color etc then you could have the description like.

You can't quite tell what they look like. (End of description) Or they don't have one like right now. So you can put the info in yourself if you find it relevent. I usally find that stuff to not be very helpfull so when I see someone *dragging his hand through his long blond hair* I just ignore the long blond hair part because I don't find that it is/was needed.

Personally if your character has a problem of some kind or looks a certain way you can rp it accordingly and then it won't be needed. If your char is a d-bag I'm not going to treat them diffrent cause they got long blond hair or short brown hair.

What ever Dudel don't care what is done. Worse comes to worse I describe my chars better.

OH! Problem: I don't know what my chars look like till after a while... hmmm.. tiss a problem indeed.

Oh what if I wan't my char to loose hair later in life. Problem again! OI! I poked holes in my own idea. :x

Seems like I won't be able to help there. ^^

Hmm... Now that I think about it, I should still have a South Park inspired drawing of a women somewhere...

I definitely wouldn't want there to be any visible indication of what a player's body looks like, but the idea of showing what a charater's clothing looks like is okay. It could be a mannequin (I'm thinking a wooden one), such are used in clothing shop window displays - and, there will be some work here on the graphical side, every item of clothing can be layered on appropriately.

This should benifit the game in the sense that people will be more conscious of what characters are wearing - closer to real life, and there will be an incentive to make more advanced clothing, and have people of certain factions wearing similar clothes or uniforms.

A person's facial and bodily appearance, on the other hand, is something which they cannot control (apart from tatoos, piercings, etc, which can still be represented on a mannequin), and this is not part of role-playing. The many subtleties of a person's face is what make it unique, and unless an extraordinary amount of time is spent on allowing tiny changes to be made, it will never allow enough flexibility to stop any two characters from having the same face.

To save transfer time, I'd say its best to composite the image on the server side, so no hidden pixels get transferred - as generally it takes more time to transfer 10 medium sized images over a long distance than it is to perform some server-side calculations then transfer one image. Also, CSS, Javascript, etc are best kept to a level where the game can still function without browser support. The simpler something is, the less room there is for it to go wrong.

Just how many images have already been produced of different clothing types?

Image
Vague enough? I made it in vector graphics so scaling or editing won't be difficult, but I think there should be a general agreement on the dummies before any clothing is drawn.

You can check some clothing images in the Cantr wiki but they'll all have to be redrawn because there will be a different mannequin to wear them.

I knew there was something familiar and homey about them. Good job Seko.

Although I'm not sure if the female torso is a bit too long. But hey, looks great.

It's because females have fat thighs that stick together, but I can fix it a bit.

That can easily be corrected I assume. Her left hand (from our perspective) looks a little lumpy too, by the way.

I think that was directed at me. :)

Shouldn't be criticism. I know how the hands I draw look. ^^ Seemed just a little asymmetrical.

The male and female models should really be the same height when displayed. It seems... unnecesary to enforce the average heights on earth when men and women have no difference in strength in the game.

The clothing images in the wiki are pretty good - I can see a lot of work has been put into them. If it's possible, the clothing elements alone could be taken and adapted to fit the new models.

Usually you wouldn't see both models at the same time, so it would hardly be noticeable that they aren't the same height. Besides, who says that strength is connected to height?
