Re: Bathtubs
I've been wondering the same thing. It seems like we should be able to make them out of stone, marble, ceramic clay, and the like.

Re: Bathtubs
I'd be in favor, but then I want it to specify the type after it's built. If I make a marble bathtub, I want everyone to know it's not some cheap stone knockoff!

Re: Bathtubs
From a non-programmer's point of view, I don't think it would be very difficult -- just change the names of all of the existing bathtubs to "copper bathtub" (because, until after this implementation, if it happens, only copper bathtubs have been available for manufacture), and then RD and ProgD implement the new ones with the new materials. Ceramic clay bathtub. Cast iron bathtub (either it be made with existing iron, or create a new type of project to make cast iron, which would open up opportunities for other new items). Primitive wooden tub. Stone bathtub. Marble bathtub.
I really want a marble bathtub. There's marble three towns away from one of my characters, and it would be a sign of wealth in a not-as-wealthy-as-most-other-big-English-towns town. That, and I just wanna see marble bathtubs.
( I've had to go back and correct myself several times there; I keep typing "bathrub". xD )

Re: Bathtubs
I think if there is a marble bathtub, I would have to have one.
Maybe I'm not supposed to be admitting this kind of stuff, but once we work out the resources and times, this is a change that only involves five minutes of time from any regular old RD peon like myself.
I just need the official approval really, and maybe my test account reactivated.

Re: Bathtubs
I'm too lazy to research this myself, but would it be feasible to use jade in a bathtub? (There I go again with "bathrub"!!!)

Re: Bathtubs
The big problem is that the game can't handle a lot of different building materials very well. Since we have to have an individual object for each material the database would become quite unwieldy and the build menus would explode.
What we probably could do is implement a kind of landmark object for each building material and let the player fill in the details themselves.

Pretty in pink.
