Why not regular sized salting barrel? I like the idea.

Because that makes it too easy to live at sea.

I was thinking with max 1 participant, must be in cabin or hold, as well as having a fixed amount of half values.
EX:
Salting meat
Output per day of labour
125 grams of salted meat
Required resources
200 grams of meat
25 grams of salt

The normal salting barrel is double these amounts.

Also limit it to one per ship...

But we can build salting barrels on ships.

I think he wants to downgrade the existing ones.

Seems like a good deal of work (also for ProgD) for little effect. The limiting factor is the availability of meat and salt. Downsizing the barrels would only increase the time you're spending on salting the meat.

You can automatically get salt on seafaring ships, AND meat is not the only thing that can be salted...
Though, if it's too much work, then it's not a big deal. Simply a thought. :D

Damn, I forgot about fish. Luckily it doesn't matter as the 15g salt you can get from the solar still are still less than the suggested 25g per day for the small salting barrel, so that salt would still limit the process.
