I don't think it's okay to OOCly encourage people to do even less foolish conflict thingies.

It's been proven that capital punishment is not a deterrent to crime, and I think this is the same concept. I seriously doubt a 40 slot lock is going to make a player keep playing a character that they don't want to (and it certainly will have no effect on murderers).

Let people vote for if someone had a good or bad death, if they played it well or if others killed him unfairly without giving him a chance to react, the person would get another character soon while if it was a suicidal character, you'd have to wait 40 days. (Not entirely a serious suggestion.)

Sorry, but I don't like this suggestion at all. All this would do is punish players who lost a character even more. (I recently lost a char by events entirely out of my control and those 40 days annoy me like hell.) Most people are quite attached to their charries and don't take their deaths lightly. Besides, what would we achieve by ecouraging a player to play a character he or she doesn't want to play anymore?

I only got seven characters so it don't matter to me AT ALL how many days the "slot is locked".

Hmm... don't I have 8 more?
