I've searched and found no relative to this suggestion.
My suggestion is that the success of picking a lock, that are now done by random, should be a skill instead.
Someone with a expert skill in this could pry the lock open in 1 day. One with akward skill would be able to the same in 5 days. But the chance to lose the gripp and have to start over should be at the maximum of three times.
So if you have a character that is a expertly skilled in picking locks could destoy the lock in 1, 2 or 3 days on he's own (depending on his luck). But if he is akward in picking locks this would be 5, 10 or 15 days.
As it is now one character could keep on with the lock for ever if he's unlucky.
And also a skill to adding or taking away an old lock should be in this skill.
Anyone up for the proffession as locksmith?

Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."
