The setting used for the herb garden is usable for any object so you could have a hammock limited to outdoors in a forest (but then not inside) - though personally I'd see no reason to limit it to one type of location - It doesn't need trees just something to attach to .

A cactus? No... that would create a thorny dilemma.

AGREED! I've always thought we should have hammocks, and like you said, rope and string should be more useful.

It's be a nice 'middleclass' item for people who above fur rugs and cots but don't have the resources to waste on the more advanced stuff.

I had originally planned for an outdoor hammock in forests only. You have to have a tree big enough to make wood in order to hang a hammock.

I'm up for adding a hammock indoors, or outdoors in a forest. My reasoning for that is because say you have a stone house in the desert, you can put a hammock up in there (don't know how, but its very much possible), but you have no where to put it up outside. On the other hand, the already mentioned fact we can hang them off any ol' tree in a forest. Also, I'd very much like a hammock in the mountains :) it may be cold, but who wouldn't like to lounge around alittle at a high altitude?

Actually, IRL hammocks can be hang anywhere, even in a beach without palms, if you have the proper sticks to put it firmly.
Inside buildings, hammocks are often hang by attachingt their sides to the walls.
Hammocks seem to be a brilliant way to rest on board, because of the movement of the ship.
