Of course, to be useful, it would have to vary with the item... a large amount of gold in grams ain't exactly the same as that amount of dung.

Just bringing this thread back...and about the above quote, I'm not sure how it would be implemented but keeping all the resources based on grams instead of how big it really looks would keep it nice and simple for the characters. I think we have to assume that all resources take up the same amount of space as each other, that's why our characters can always carry items based on grams, and not how big it should be.
I'm not too sure if that all made sense, or even if it came across the right way, but to cut it short I was saying I don't see a need to change the system suggested earlier to fit what resources look like. Hope that made sense, it's been a long day... :S

Anyway, back to the thread...just wanted to know whether this would ever get accepted.

I kind of like this particular mechanic the way it is. Some changes have taken away some level of secrecy which had a strategy component to them. If we make the game too transparent, it makes it even more difficult to pull off quality theft, espionage, and other such despicable behavior, which is actually good for the game.
