No, no, wrong direction. Workers unionizing wouldn't bother me at all, though I don't know what good it would do them. But industry in cantr all seems to run on th premise of "you make stuff for me and eventually, if I feel like it I will give you some too". 'Companies' don't actually try to sell things. They're just autonimous collectives.

But a 'city' composed of people forced to work inside and issued food would be a Lad workshop, not a proper city. People need a little active self-interest and motivation to make a free city work.

The 'free towns' in cantr so far are pretty much just a bunch of hunter-gatherers hanging around and developing delusions of grandeur. with no trade and no manufacturing, they don't really deserve to be called towns.

To promote development, I call upon you to become smarter bandits! scare people enough that they want to live inside, and maybe some real walled cities could form.
Doesn't the Imperial Plaza and Residence have an open door policy? With people inside coming out to get their own food? That's not really the same as a walled city.

Incidentally, what is wrong with forced labor? I hate the way everyone thinks slavery is immoral, evil, and must be dealt with immediately in Cantr. As far as I can tell, this is hugely out of character. If Cantr characters think dictators are OK, then how can they be automatically appalled by slavery? Probably because of human, OOC history.

I agree about the bandits. Assuming they didn't simply discourage newspawns, they would either encourage walled cities, or trade with forests for shields. The problem is that bandits tend to be slaughtered by people with sabers, frequently from steel dug out of the ground, or at least from before they took salt. First their items need to deteriorate or bandits would live short lives.

something happened to a town I was in, only it was with animals. There were so many of them that all the town members were forced inside or else they were slaughtered. Pretty fun actually.

and as for the Bandits, if you're organized and active enough you can do amazing things

And I'm glad that it was fished out, this is what should be happening in the suggestions forums Theatris. People looking to see similar discussions from before and adding to them, rather than ending up with numerous threads on exactly the same topic.

Anyway, Theatris, you recently bumped an old topic in another forum simply to tell a 'guest' to get an account. Which is a whole lot more pointless than this post.

Not true. It was an old post, but someone had already bumped it to the top. And the guest had a very educated opinion, so I suggested he'd be best off getting an account.
