What did Nick do to get banned from the game?

Ass or not, and all other prejuices anyone has about him aside, OOC or IC, his characters were good for Cantr. Doesn't make anything else he did good and doesn't make his characters' value completely negated.

I don't accept this, it smacks of some sort of cover up of funny bussines, just like the attempt at killing of Fran, one of The Socialist's characters.

If what he did got him banned from the game it must have been to do with the game, and as it cannot now effect things in game it should now be a matter of public record.. surely!

If he manipulated some vulnerability it must surely have been dealt with by now! 'None of your bussiness' just isn't an argument is it! Of course I am sure the people who are important know in any event.. so spill the beans!

The poll doesn't refer to Nick, it is about the general principle... I will assume from Hermi's reaction the reason for Nick's banning wasn't public!

It is the person's personal business between them and the higher ups. Why drag them through the muck when it is over?

If it were something to do with a bug, yes, I would hope that it would be fixed and maybe an announcement made. Even if it was a bug, there would be no need to name the person involved in exploiting something like that, only a need to say, this was a bug and it's fixed. Anyway, there are too many things it could be that have nothing to do with mechanics and are no one else's business. It's called confidentiality.

The decision to air one's dirty laundry should be left to the only person it pertains to: the person that got their laundry dirty.

Well maybe people would be less likely to cheat if it was made clear that their offenses would be told in public. Though many breachers are newbies who don't realize they're doing wrong, this cannot be the case when there's an older player in question. (Well, some seem to have trouble grasping the CR but most get it eventually.)

Nick said in one point that he doesn't even know what he was accused of, that sounds pretty shady. But then again some say he was lying.

Of course Nick was innocent. It's a good thing OJ was released or I would have lost all hope in the justice system.

I don't think it is worth parading around offenses. It just smears reputations worse than forum trolling and gossip already manages. Besides, it would just give the newbies ideas and then all hell would break loose. Don't organize events out of character is already an impossible concept to grasp for a lot of players out there.

We look at each case as the player's private business. If he wants to share - that is fine.

There was a whole thread about this awhile back. Nick got his answers straight from Jos.

Which thread was that? :D Phalynx I PM`d you with what I know.....
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

I miss Nick to.

I was always under the impression that you'd let him back in eventually. You won't find a better player then him.

Very good at making things happen, that guy.

If making things happen involve OOC groups, leave them out of Cantr. Pirates are bad enough with out fleets coordinating on Yahoo messenger.

Anything that is coordinated IC, and with radios now, that is quite possible, is just fine and I look forward to seeing it done, but OOC groups should NEVER be allowed.
Reality was never my strong point.

Nick is gone.. leave him alone... the case was closed.. it is up to him to disclose any info... He played good RP, much unlike MANY players today... where they do nothing RP NOTHING.... he was skilled with RP ...maybe there was OOC stuff... but that doesn't change the fact that he was a great RPr.... there is alot of OOC stuff that is let go....I know this for a fact... why? I don't know... I am so close to just quiting.... I play cantr for the RP.. now there is limited RP... It is so frustrating... I am soo so close... to just... quiting..

No, it shouldn't be allowed. But it's done all the same.

What's done is done. Personally, I think we need to have some more people who organize communities and such like. Most of the current "Leaders" are just thugs running one horse towns.

We need more people to be bigger powers. If not Nick, then someone, but why not Nick?
