I tried using Gimp (an imaging software) but i didn't like it very well so i decided to uninstall it and return to using my origional software. Now for some odd reson all of my image files have no icon (they are unknown files) and will not open when i click them from a window like my documents, they do open when i am opening them from the file browser in my imagin software. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.
EDIT: I am using windows 98 SE

Try Avast
http://www.avast.com/
They have a free-home version. Download it and install it. Then run it. And don't forget to accept the scan from the start of Windows.

The association windows has with that image file is gone due to you deleting the program.

Yes, It is. Just get rid of that AVG and install the Avast.
About firewalls, try to conserve the Zone Alarm, it's a good programm. But look up if you're really protected, because it has an expiration date.
