I do not like it when people use words like "English" or "German", but I guess that was common even before I started playing about two years ago.

I don't like it when people apply for staff positions as a joke. ;)

*makes a note not to apply to ProgD as a joke cause she doesn't know a lick of programming languages*

I don't like it when people get funny about grammer and capitalisation, for two reasons:

a) people of all abilites of written play and should be allowed to... as long as cummunication is clear a few typos dont matter one bit//

b) sometimes I mkae little erros through typing in a hurry, snatching minutes here and there... so live with it!

Not a problem I understand what you were saying perfectly...

Why don't your chars talk like that then, if there's nothing wrong with it? It's so much easier after all....

And that's really one of the things that bugs me, I don't buy your "people of all abilites of written" post because I guarantee that most of these people can write better, or they'd never have passed the fourth grade, they just don't bother to try, which makes me doubt they even take the game seriously. I've never seen a char who talked like that who had an obvious personality, unless that personality was 'idiot' or maye 'suicidal'.

I like people who spell funny and don't use normal capitalization and punctuation. It's like accents that make sense because they are typing based instead of sound based, and Cantr is a typing world.

Did I just antirant?

Typing like that irritates me a lot. I drag myself through it IG, but I skip anything written like that elsewhere. I have to admit to being a little obsessive about it myself; I can't stand seeing mistakes in my writing.

I copy over and spell check almost everything I type into a word document to keep my spelling peachy-keen. Except with a couple characters who aren't supposed to be all that bright so spelling mistakes add to the effect.

But capitalization I do naturally, Sometime out of place.

Give a thought to those who have their computer talk to them. Particularly irritating are the lack of apostrophes in I'm, he's etc.

Sorry, but these days I'm happy enough if newspawns stay awake. Anything else is a bonus. :P

*Grins*

Remember the internet is no longer the academic haven is was when I first played on the MUDs...

Back then you had to have three A-Levels to get near a computer that was connected to the internet....

Now they let any old riff raff surf for porn and buy things on the web...

What happened to the 'brave new world'. I wanted to download a jounral article the other day to find it cost me £10.... I thought the internet was going to mean we would all have access to the wisdom of the world... not 300 websites of MILF....

(does that count as a rant)

typos to the point of random inconsistant gibberish yes could be something to compliain about. however
if particular typos are consistant with specific chars, it could in fact be classed as "language evolution"

 *picks up his ice shield to protect from flames*... oops sorry that's final fantasy the original not cnatr II
