Curfews

I've been doing some research recently, as was just idly interetsed in what people here might have to say on the issue.
Is anyone here under any form of curfew? Particularly ones which are organised by local government and enforced by the police, but also ones that are made by family/carers. What do you think of it? Fair/not fair? And why do you think it's in place?
Or are you a parent which imposes a curfew? Why, and for what reasons? And do you get complaints?

If by this you mean setting a time limit by wich a child must come home, any responsible parent should set one and also follow it. Staying up or out later than usual is possible if the agreement is made beforehand but otherwise no. When I was a kid, we had to come inside early and always call home if we stayed with a friend after school. I considered it too strict then but what I've read of other kids running outside after dark and doing all sorts of crazy stuff, getting drunk and fucking each other, I'm glad I had limits.

I agree. When I was younger I had a curfew of around 10pm, which was raised to 11pm when I got my junior driving license. These days on the rare occasions that I'm at my parents' house they request that I come home before they go to sleep so they don't worry about me, but other than that I'm free to do what I want. And obviously when I'm not there I can stay out as late as I'd like.
A certain amount of guidelines and restrictions are important when you're growing up until you've got the emotional and mental maturity to be responsible for yourself.

I have a curfew of maximum 11:30 pm. I only get past that time twice in my life, during this month

I returned home at 1 am, and at 1:30 am on another occasion. I was not punished, of course.. But my parents were very worried about me. Thank God for cell phones
My brother does not have a curfew

that annoys me a little bit.. He can stay as late as 6 am, as long as my parents know where he is.
On the other hand

My boyfriend does not let me stay out late after 10:30 pm, unless I am with him, of course.
Edit: Farmer, is that a keyboard made out of chocolate?

Can I eat it?

I never really had much of a curfew when I was younger. I wasn't really the type to run around all the time anyway. My curfew varied, but I always let my parents know about how late I'd be and where I'd be so they wouldn't worry. I guess on school nights it was about 10pm-11pm and maybe later on weekends. When I was in grade school though, I had to be in bed by 8:30-9pm. Heh, guess I was a good child. Now of course, I can stay out and do whatever I want.
A lot of towns around this area, I know especially in my hometown, have curfew laws of 11pm for people under 18, but I'm not sure they're strictly enforced.

My school has a curfew, but it doesn't bother me. Only twice, when I wanted to go out for a late night fast food runs did the curfew get in my way. Other than that I was glad for it. I don't like people comming back to the dorm and waking me up at odd hours of the night and morning.
What sort of stuff do kids and teens do after midnight anyways? 95% of it I wouldn't want to get involved with so curfews don't bother me at all.

I don't know if it's a local or state curfew, but the 12PM is our curfew by law for minors. I don't really have a curfew, as long as they know where I am, but I'm not really a party person anyway.

Has anyone ever had an experience with, or know of police enforcing state / local curfews?

Me and my siblings got stoped at a casino bowling ally in Las Vegas when we tried to go to the $1 late night bowling. They have a curfew in Vegas that I didn't know about at the time. It was nothing more than a stern talking to and a "go home kids". It was probably for the better, they had dollar drinks at the bowling ally and casino bars after midnight too, scary drunks and kids don't mix well.

I remember a post-natural-disaster curfew enforced by the national guard to deter looting. Does that count? Seemed reasonable, as they were still digging out bodies...
Nothing like NOLA though. Feel lucky in retrospect.

I know out here that police can enforce the curfew for minors (under eighteen) - can't remember if it's 10pm or 11pm. They usually won't unless that are caught doing something, or looking suspicious.

For the most part I don't have a cerphew on weekends so long that my parents know who I be with and where I'm going. Same for school nites, but nothing outrageous. THey trust me, so I figure I'll respect them. Besides, the only time I ever snuck out, I got into a car wreck and totaled my car......I liked that car too..

I think in Johansberg (sp?) The curfew by law is 6 pm
But they do have a lot of crime going on there.
