Cantr II Discussion Forum

Just curious. I know I found Cantr through a link in a signature on http://forum.rpg.net/ . Any other geeks?

Often when I'm bored in school I'll pull out some graph paper, make a map, then make some characters on other pieces of paper, make up some rules, and play. At one point in 9th grade, I actually had about 3 other people playing with me. Ahh, good times...

I own a good amount of the 2nd and 3rd ed. of White Wolf's Storyteller series. I have played pen & paper rpg's since I was 9, and enjoy them thoroughly. I currently am not near any other gamers so I get my fix by running and playing PBP games on online roleplaying forums.

I wrote an entire rule system for one. Complete with deteriation and over 100 different weapons with nearly 200 stats. (God I was bored).

I make/made rulesets sometimes but never get anything finished. I used to play for a bit on nineth grade, and I think I've told about it somewhere around here too.

I've written several games, play d&d, all editions, battletech, shadowrun (my brother also runs the Denver Muck) as well as dragonstorm, gurps, and a number of other games.

Yes, I did play that Dungeons and Dragons Basic Game with about three of my friends. Now that I have the Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters, and Monster Manuel, all v. 3.5, along with a Miniatures Handbook, I'm able to fully experience what's said to be the first greatest roleplaying game of all time. Unfortunately, most of my friends moved, and I wasn't social enough to ask for people to play. Nowadays I just read those four books, almost page by page, interested in it's complexity.

By that do you mean the Gary Gygax originals, or the modern tripe they call a system?

Ive played D&D a fair bit, also i have made lots of different rule sets based off mordheim, the rp end of warhammer.

Usually, I don't have "set" weapons. In the games I make, characters usually make their own weapons, and the effectivness of those based on a couple of different factors. And as for my rules... I probably spend more time writing rules than actually playing the game. lol

In response to Agar, I think it may be the modern tripe, but I'm not familiar with the Gary Gygax originals.

In response to MrPenguin589, it really is pretty normal for gamemasters to spend time preparing for the game than actually playing it. This may be especially true for Dungeons and Dragons. I never knew Dungeons Masters (D.M.) have such a huge responsibilty in making the game so enjoyable. It must be kinda frustrating.

I've played and sometimes still play Star Wars (d6 and d20), D&D, Vampire Dark Ages and Vampire The Masquerade, Cyberpunk, The Legend of the 5 Rings, and some others...However currently I play by forum or email, and usually I don't play any more, but direct/GM People are lazy, and it helps me keep my imagination alive (to think of adventures and stories and prepare them to be played) despite my lack of time...

I did in school, i would draw a character, then my friend would. They would talk for awhile (just stuff like" Hey, how's it goin?") Then after a bit of meaningless chatter they would kill the s**t out of eachother.
(I was bored )

Not much of a role-playing game now that I think about it...
