I use Trillian... a LOT... but the most recent version sucks and is very buggy!!
Anyone know of a program that does something similar and is free/shareware?

Gaim:

I used it on Windows for a while until I switched to Linux (where I of course use Gaim, as it's the most popular Linux client). Not as pretty as Trillian, and the Windows port has a few problems with the interface, but it doesn't use as much system resources as Trillian.

Trillian is a piece of software that lets you use AIM, YIM, MSNIM, ICQ and IRC in one package (more can be used with the paid version of the software). Gaim does the same thing, except it's multi-platform (as opposed to Trillian, which only runs on Windows) and is completely free and open-source.
