Best arcade games ever?

To start with, there's no money in this, I don't know the person who made these, or have any connection with this except for the fact that I stumbled across them earlier today:

If, like me, you like your arcade games with that pseudo-retro polygon style, waves of electronic sound, utterly manic, yet amazingly easy to look like you're an ace at, then these are for you.

I've just wasted half a day of good exam-revision time on them, and see no reason to stop now (other than to check Cantr)

Check out Torus Trooper and Tumiki Fighter first (and rank-up the resolution to play them)

Also, and a supper-whammy of a bonus for me, they run good on a half-decent linux box, and some on Mac. There's a link to one of them on the site, others (as well as some other games) can be got from here: http://www.emhsoft.net/
A quick google, and there's a wiki site I just found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABA_Games with links to mac versions

Also, if anyone knows of anything similar (non-commercial (freeware)) let me know, I'm in the mood for some random arcade-y nonsense...

A little later than those, I spent more money ina Gauntlet machine than the rest of the machines in the arcade combined. So many hours of fighting over who got to be the elf and yelling at friends who shot food and potions. Those were the good old days.

"Valkyre needs food badly."
"Valkrye is about to die."

I miss hearing that, though I do have Gauntlet on my cell phone.

You may like Starscape, from www.moonpod.com though it doesn't have the vector graphics it does have very detailed sprites, but mixes in a strategy element quite well. You research technologies and can design your own ship, though it's not free the download cost is pretty small, around £15 I think, but there's a demo available to try before you buy. 8)
